Kacey's Thoughts on the Canley Arms

'OT: Canley Arms' was a thread I'd noticed on forum a fair while before I actually went in and announced myself, I browsed a few times but in my early forum days I wasn't too sure what was going on and if the lively crowd in their would welcome my intrusion. When I noticed Plod had wandered into it and seemed to have survived the experience, I got up my courage and posted my first message. Not wanting to intrude I tentatively knocked on the door, opened it up, stuck my head in, looked around and nodded in approval. I was thrilled when I was welcomed in, and my first drink was a lovely Ginger Ninja, which suited me just fine because I'm a LGHSA fan. I soon felt comfortable in the Arms and it became a favourite Internet haunt. When things were getting me down or I was happy I'd come and cheer up or celebrate. I've taken my mice in to share them with friends who can appreciate their names (Cass and Di), I've shared good news like exam results, and when I hurt my foot ! and got stuck with sitting on the sofa in a fair bit of pain I wrote a postcard to the Arms to take my mind off it. I enjoy the company of the others, their dedication to fun, and I've finally learnt how to order in rgb colours! It's the ultimate local because it's open to people from everywhere, we all share at least one thing in common (TB), everyone's happy to get to know each other and have a lot of fun. I can imagine most of the drinks even though I've never gotten around to trying them all in real life. I've taken drinks from RL drink with me into the Arms, and I'm sure they tasted better after imagining them mixed with one of the resident drinks.

I've always imagined the Canley Arms as a large woody old English pub. I wasn't too surprised when I heard about the oak bar. I imagine the main room as large so that when you walk in the bar's on your left (attended by Rodders if you're lucky), there are tables and booths spread about infront of you and to the right, there are a bunch of tables in the center area that can be moved for a dance, and I that's were I imagine the jukebox is, over by the wall opposite the door. The people are of course what really makes up the Arms and you'll see where they are as you walk in and they speak up, all you've got to do is listen. Debz has always got her sleeping bag, Avon's got a beanbag when she wants it. There's a bookshelf somewhere, probably up against the right hand wall. The kitchen can be entered by a door on the left wall where the bar is, and another door opens up to a staircase that leads you upstairs. It's an old style wooden place, there's corridors and a fair few rooms, the sort of place you'll never finish exploring, and there's an attic up the top. Far from being dark and gloomy it's warm, comfortable, but lively and vivacious. The Canley Arms might look different ways to different people but it's a place you can't really understand until you've experienced it, and once you have, you'll have trouble not falling in love with the place.

big round of applause for Miss Kacey
